Frequently asked questions
How do you do a social media competitor analysis?
List your rivals, collect followers, posting frequency and engagement on recent posts for each network, and put them on one formula so they compare fairly. Then look at growth over the period and the posts that performed best. The sheet does each of those steps.
Which metrics matter most?
Engagement rate (average engagements per post over followers), follower growth over the period and posting cadence. Follower count alone is the least useful, since it says nothing about attention.
Can I see my competitors' reach or ad spend?
No. Reach, impressions and ad spend are private to each account. The analysis uses public numbers only: followers, posts, likes, comments, shares and views where a network shows them.
Which social networks are covered?
Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn and X. Pick any of them per run, and brands without a profile on a network are simply left out of that row.
How often should I benchmark competitors?
Monthly is enough for most brands, and quarterly for planning. Saving the prompt lets you rerun the same benchmark and compare against the last one.
