Instagram engagement calculator
Name a handle. Get its real engagement rate, post by post, in a sheet.
Examples
One account's posts, its peers, a creator audit and a monthly report. Every rate is a formula you can check.
Likes plus comments over 48,200 followers, post by post, with a bought-looking spike kept out of the average.
How it works

Name the account
Type a public handle, or paste a list of them. Say how many recent posts to read; 12 is a fair sample, 30 smooths out one lucky reel.

It reads the public posts
Chatly pulls the follower count and the likes and comments on each post, then works out the rate per post as (likes + comments) / followers.

Get the sheet
Every post on its own row with the formula in the cell, an average, a trend line, and any post that looks bought flagged and kept out of the average.

Frequently asked questions
How is Instagram engagement rate calculated?
The common formula is engagement rate by followers: (likes + comments) on a post, divided by the account's follower count, times 100. Average it over the last 12 to 30 posts for a stable number. Some tools divide by reach instead, which only the account owner can see.
What is a good engagement rate on Instagram?
It depends on size and niche. Smaller accounts usually run higher than large ones, and a rate between 1% and 5% is common for most brands. Compare against accounts of the same size in the same niche rather than one rule of thumb.
Can I check someone else's engagement rate?
Yes, for any public account. Likes, comments and follower counts are public, so the rate can be worked out without logging in to that account. Private accounts cannot be checked.
How do you spot fake followers or bought likes?
Look for a follower jump with no matching rise in likes, a rate far below accounts of the same size, or posts with thousands of likes and almost no comments. Chatly flags each of these patterns and shows the numbers behind the flag.
What if an account hides its like counts?
Hidden likes cannot be read, so those posts are marked and the rate is worked from comments only, labelled as such. You get a lower bound, not an invented number.
Is the engagement rate calculator free?
